The Opportunity of a Lifetime

It’s official. The biggest book publisher is betting on me.

I am often told that I do not stop and smell the roses so today, I am going to take my time with this announcement and then I’m going to run off and have a good cry:

Portfolio Books/Penguin Books and Merry Sun are trusting me with the task of writing THE DOUBLE TAX, a book that will unveil what the extra costs between Black and white women at different stages of life reveal about inequality. The book is an extension of my own research, which revolves around racial and gender disparities in the workplace.

Grateful feels insufficient. Flabbergasted feels more appropriate. Penguin Random House, which houses Portfolio/Penguin Books, is the Beyoncé of book publishing. And at present, I feel like I am destiny’s child.

I owe much to God, my incomparable support system, the community of women and girls who have lent their stories and offered early feedback. To my visionary agent, Leila Campoli, and the team that makes it all happen, thank you.
